A PRAYER FOR THE TSUNAMI
VICTIMS:From Dolly Purnell, Minister
Kingswells Parish Church (Posted 3.1.2005)
Almighty God
We come to you this day shocked to
the core of our being by the devastation that has
been brought upon the lives of so many.
Our
ears and our eyes have heard and seen the
destruction brought to us on our television screens
through radio broadcast and the internet from first
hand accounts of the chance meeting and news from
family and friends
We
confess that in the midst of it all we feel
helpless and realise once again how precious yet
how fragile and fleeting earthy life is
And
so Lord God ; our heavenly Father
Help us in our helplessness through our
insufficient words
To intercede in response to the burden we feel upon
our hearts today.
We
pray for that which has been lost
For
so many lives
For children now orphaned and alone
For parents bereft of their little ones
For the security of family life and shelter
For a way of life and a means of support
For precious memories swept away
For human dignity and a sense of belonging
We
pray for help
Today we thank you for the aid
agencies tirelessly and consistently working among
the world's poorest people.
And
especially now for the efficiency of the disasters
emergency committee co-ordinating supplies,
distribution, medical help and assessing need.
For the response of Governments and the realisation
of their duty of care.
For the expertise and mobilisation of armed
forces.
For the selfless giving of the individual.
In all this grant clear direction that healing
might occur and hope be restored.
We
pray for the essence of life
Lord God nurture the human spirit
of each victim and survivor .
That fear will be dispelled and courage might
emerge in the darkness
And above all encourage love that, the world over,
we will come to appreciate our common humanity and
our shared necessities for life.
These things we ask in the precious
name of Jesus Christ
The
one who is the same Yesterday today and forever
Amen

THE BIG CHRISTMAS TREE
Mums and
Dads &endash; This year Kingswells PTA have come up
with a great idea! Each of your 'little cherubs'
will now have to fill in only one, yes only one,
Christmas Card instead of the usual 25-30.
- Each class will
design their own Christmas Tree (large enough to
accommodate 25-30 small 'baubles or
cards').
- The PTA will
provide each child with a blank card or bauble
which they can then decorate and sign, ready to
stick on their Class Tree.
- Children then
donate £1 to stick their card onto their
class tree. There will be a 'Donation Box' in
each class for this purpose.
Merry Christmas

KINGSWELLS'
TREASURES: I wonder if you have
thought recently about who will be most affected by
the WPR in our area? I did, after reading comments
in the P&J last month. They pictured the
Park& Ride and one of their heavy-duty drilling
machines in the field, just behind the badger set
and the vixen's earth on my land. Read

ADVICE TO KINGSWELLS RESIDENTS
REGARDING LOCAL CRIME and 'QUALITY OF LIFE'
ISSUES: As with all residential areas
within Aberdeen City, Kingswells suffers from
occasional incidents of vandalism, youth disorder,
underage drinking and behaviour which impacts on
the quality of life of residents. A small number of
the growing youth population within Kingswells will
from time to time, become involved in such
behaviour. While the current rate of incidents
remains comparatively very low, it is important
that residents, the police, other agencies and
community based organisations play their part in
preventing, reducing and responding to incidents
effectively and fairly. Read
